"And They Shall Know a Prophet Was Among Them..."
Yechezkel 33:33 and the bombing of Eretz Yisrael's Arabs
bs”d
Rav Binyamin Kahane, ZTZ”L HY”D, regularly quoted the above pasuk from sefer Yechezkel when speaking of his father, HaRav Meir David Kahane, ZTZ”L HY”D.
All of his father’s warnings and chastisements may not have been heeded while he was alive, Rav Binyamin wrote, but when the evil he predicted did ultimately befall them, there would be no doubt that a prophet had been amongst them.
Much the same could be said for Rav Binyamin himself.
You’ll recall that the zionists threw him in jail in 1992 for suggesting that the IDF bomb Uhm Al Fahm. That, after three soldiers were butchered with axes by terrorists from Uhm Al Fahm, and the IDF chose instead to bomb Lebanon to assuage the public’s anger.
For that, the Supreme Court convicted him of sedition (gasp!), after he was already twice acquitted on the charge.
After the conviction, Rav Binyamin wrote thus —
The day will come when events will force the the Government of Israel against its will to bomb Uhm AL Fahm just as it was forced to bomb Gaza and Ramallah, something which months ago nobody would ever have dreamed of.
And now, it appears we’ve progressed toward that end.
In the last half year, the IDF has launched multiple airstrikes against Arabs in Jenin, Tubas, Tammun, Tulkarem and Shechem — all cities relatively close to where we reside, and only minutes from several other, larger Arab conurbations.
So, not to worry.
The day will surely arrive when aerial bombardments of Rahat, Nazareth, Tayibe and… yes, even east-side Jerusalem ensue!
Like Yosef HaTzaddik and Yirmiyahu HaNavi, Binyamin Kahane was jailed for his commitment to the Truth.
And like Yishayahu HaNavi he was ultimately murdered by an Erev Rav that couldn’t bear to hear his message.
But in the near future, b’ezrat Hashem, we’ll come to see Rav Binyamin’s recommendation made real, with every den of Jew-hatred razed, including Uhm Al Fahm .
It will be a day of great Kiddush Hashem, when the Jews finally decide to win.
And they shall know a prophet was among them.
