You’d have to make a very powerful case to convince us that the source of evil in the world resides OUTSIDE of Eretz Yisrael.
Say, in Washington.
Or Geneva.
Or Beijing, even.
We’re not buying it — though, to be sure, there’s no shortage of cruelty and evil that issue from those places.
That said, we’re coming at it from a different angle.
Equal and Opposite
There’s an idea tossed about that when Hitler and the Nazis, yimach shemam v'zichram —perhaps the greatest evil ever to stalk the planet — went looking for a target for their satanic designs, it was inevitable that they would settle on G-d's chosen people, the Jews — those who represent the greatest planetary force for good.
Equal and opposite, you might call it.
Likewise, we know that Hashem created our yetzer hara to be proportionally as strong as the level of our kedusha.
That there should be a balance, of sorts.
Why?
Because free choice only obtains when there’s ‘appraisal parity’ — as in, do I choose what’s behind curtain #1 or curtain #2?
If I have an inkling already of what’s situated behind either, it’s no longer free choice.
It’s also why Hashem was forced to harden Paro's heart REPEATEDLY to keep that wicked egomaniac’s scales in equilibrium — to keep him in the game, so to speak, and force him to make an honest choice. To let them go…? Or to keep them as slaves?
If He hadn’t done so, we never would have arrived at the tenth plague.
It would have been game over in the first inning.
Paro would have conceded immediately.
Balance.
So, too, we say with Eretz Yisrael and Jerusalem.
The greatest force for kedusha and Torah indubitably resides here in the Holy Land, in the holiest of holy domains of the universe.
G-d’s house, when it’s built — may it be completed speedily in our days — won’t be situated in Peoria.
Yet at the same time, how could Jerusalem’s kedusha NOT be opposed by the most un-G-dly, reprobate depravity?
How could it NOT face off in equal measure with the most profane and vile impurity?
For every genuine, G-d-fearing Jew and Jewess who walks the streets of Jerusalem, is it possible there’s NOT some counterpart demon who’s sunk in the most obscene abominations and heinous cruelties of this world?
Of course.
It has to be.
One for one.
And at the core of it all is that spy agency over which there is no oversight, whom no one is permitted to criticize or condemn, who control the workings of the state’s judiciary and legislative branches. Who monitor all, and instruct the world’s security apparatchiks on both sources and methods —including the most advanced, hideous, grotesque and humiliating, Torquemadan forms of torture.
This is the group which employs every sort and degree of deviance, sadism, degradation and physical bestiality to attain the results it desires.
That employs sex workers, foreign torture experts, incarcerated thugs (Jewish and non-) and technologies invented specifically to induce suffering without evincing any outward signs of such, to extract confessions.
Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve said it many times before — almost nothing takes place in the State of Israel without the tacit approval of the Shin Bet, the high priests of the Erev Rav.
Sometimes they actively abet the evil.
Sometimes they merely turn their gaze away…
And let things ‘happen’.
To be sure, though — the Israeli Deep-State is the source of all the mayhem, havoc and devilry that goes down in the Holy City Of Jerusalem.

And we, today…?
Nope.
We’re not yet Pinchas.
Not even close.
And so the evil persists…
Though we all, individually, can tip the scales locally and globally from kaf chov to kaf zechut with every mitzvah, every chesed and every conquest of our own yetzer hara — or the opposite, chas v’shalom — we have unfortunately yet to extend ourselves in a manner and magnitude that adequately deters, let alone destroys, the evil we’re now facing.
And so the Sitra Achra holds on.
And the ‘balance’ is maintained.
