Ask the average Israeli, and you'll likely be hit with —
Whaddaya mean ‘why are we fighting’?!
Whaddaya, live in some kinda dream world?
Why, this is a fight for our existence!
They want to wipe us out!
They’re Nazis!
So, for those of you new to the battlefield, Israelis have a penchant for talking about existence. Wars for existence, Israel's ‘right to exist', Arab-Jewish co-existence — the list goes on.
Indeed, the country is a bastion of Sartrean existential nausea — at least among the secular.
For them, ‘existence’ itself — and little else — is the ultimate goal.
But even among the religious there’s a wealth of confusion on the matter, so let’s not get too parochial.
Among that group, you’ll hear the standard tripe, but you might also be treated to a lecture on the need to eradicate Hamas, or destroy Hizb'Allah, or stamp out ‘terrorism’, or some other, laughable state-sponsored hokum, because this is, after all, a “war against terror”.
Like WWII was a war against ‘blitzkrieg’
and Vietnam was a war against ‘ambush’.
So the question must be asked—
Is this genuinely a war for our survival?
Or against terrorists?
Or for land?
Or for quiet?
Precisely what is it we're fighting for?
And the short answer is…
NO on all counts.
This, good Jews, is a war l’kadesh shem shamayim.
And nothing more.
Now, you might say that all Jewish wars are a matter of kiddush Hashem; and we're with you. When we win, His name is glorified among the nations.
And when we lose, chas v’shalom — or simply fail to win — His holy name is debased, k’vyachol, in the eyes of our enemies and beyond.
Just look at how that motley crew of ragtag barbarians managed on Simchat Torah to stoke the entire world into a seething frenzy of Jew hatred!
That persists until this day!
A full year later!
And why…?
Because the chillul Hashem persists…
And will continue to do so until it's erased.
The longer our leaders flim flam over what a great job they’re doing and tarry in wiping out every last remnant of the enemy — in every theater — the greater the desecration of the Divine Name; and the more those same enemies are encouraged to pursue us.
By the way, whether the villains are dealt their final head-smack via some pre-surveilled, pinpoint, aerial munition (of the kind the zionists prefer) or by a more general, far-reaching NOOKYULAR weapon, that might kill tens, or even hundreds of thousands of semi-human Arab detrita, is not a question either military or moral.
It's purely halachic.
Because the guiding halachic principle in waging wars of the type in which we're currently engaged is precisely that aforementioned concept of kiddush/chillul Hashem.
That is, whatever brings the world to a posture of reverence and awe of the Lord, G-d of Israel, Master of Legions and Creator of Heaven and Earth, is what must be undertaken without doubt or delay.
That's our duty.
But is it being done?
You tell me...
Take a look around.
And ask yourself —
Are they afraid of the Jews?
Do they fear G-d?
Do they possess even a modicum of respect for either?
Or is it rather closer to disdain?
Because that's the only real measure of the matter.
There is no other compass or yardstick needed to determine the issue.
Now, whether the Jewish people is currently worthy of that kind of respect is a separate question.
Whether our current level of kedusha and devekut b’Hashem merits the kind of worldly kavod we aspire to is a question that should be addressed, to be sure; and if the fever hits, perhaps well take a stab at it somwhere down the road.
But that's only part of the equation.
Dead Enemies Stoke the Fire of Teshuva
Success in war plays a much greater role in generating the worldly sanctification that G-d desires, and that will eventually lead to that perfect outcome when He is one and His name will be one.
After all, wasn't it the stunning victory of the Six Day War that kicked off the modern baal teshuva movement? That brought hundreds of thousands of wayward yidden back into the fold? If not more?
There's no gainsaying it.
Jews do better in every regard, and most importantly, spiritually, when our enemies lay crushed and dying under our heel.
Incidentally, so do our enemies.
How’s that?
Consider the lesson of David haMelech from Shmuel Bet, 8:2:
And he smote Moab, and measured them off with a line, making them lie down on the ground; and he measured two cord-lengths to put to death, and one full cord-length to keep alive. And the Moabites became as servants to David, bringing presents.
The commentaries make clear that this was an act of revenge and humiliation for Moav's murder of David's family.
Note well, though, that the arbitrary way he went about killing two thirds of that nation’s population engendered in them such a feeling of awe that they were inspired, according to the commentaries, to bring annual tribute to the same Jew that decimated them!
That’s right.
Unlike Jews, the goyim are impressed by overwhelming displays of force. The majority of them, in any event.
Speaking of which, nothing would give the Bnai Noach movement a greater shot in the arm than peppering a half dozen Middle Eastern capitals with nukes.
The very smell of the ensuing flames would be the most powerful shiur Torah imaginable.
It would also likely have a salutary effect on the Kaplan crowd.
To Finish the Job…
We leave you now with the words of our master and mentor, the reverend and saintly PROVOKE THE GOYIM, G-d rest his soul, who some twelve years ago explained the matter thus…
Hashem, the G-d of Avraham, Yitzchak and Yaakov, is not schizophrenic.
He does not, on the one hand, hold the Jewish nation as his Chosen People, and promise them the Land of Israel and a place of spiritual supremacy among the nations of the earth – as the Jews claim – and at the same time, believe that Xianity and its so-called ‘new’ testament and bogus messiah are also true — and that the whole world had better be missionized into believing that truth!
For that would be absurd.
Nor can the Muslim claim on Jerusalem and Islam’s bloodthirsty desire to convert the world to its teachings through jihad coexist with Hashem's promise to the Jews of an everlasting covenant and a population as vast as the stars of heaven. For that, too would be equally absurd.
So what does it mean?
It means someone is lying.
It means that two of these three so-called “monotheistic” faiths are entirely false.
Because G-d is not schizophrenic.
The truth will be revealed regarding which group possesses G-d’s truth, and which has been lying since its beginnings.
G-d will bring a war in which all three of these peoples battle and one emerges victorious. And that people will have possessed the truth from the outset.
For it is inconceivable that the Holy One would make the possessors of His truth perish in a battle to determine that same truth.
Again, that would be absurd.
The Lord of Hosts will be worshipped in the manner He chooses – and not by imposters who act falsely in His great and glorious name.He will, at the time of His choosing, select for all the world to see which of these peoples is His people.
And which are simply liars.
May we merit to pull the trigger a la David haMelech.
And not make the mistake that many do —
Of claiming that only when we have a David haMelech or a Moshe Rabeinu as our leader can we do such things.
Because they have the equation precisely backwards.
It wasn't that only David haMelech was worthy of utterly humiliating the enemies of G-d.
Rather, it was his ability and desire to utterly humiliate the enemies of G-d — that made him David haMelech!
And won for him the throne of Israel in aeternum.
