Well said - to simplify, it seems the solution is simply an increased focus on Tanach, which is the core of Yiddishkeit, whilst still with the Chareidi yeshivish framework (as opposed to the Modox framework, which is sullied by outside sources). I don't understand how the culture has become to denigrate this study.

I've written before about how finding a charismatic counter missionary, R' Tovia Singer, to whom's videos I was attracted to to simply because they were interesting, ended up enriching my Yiddishkeit, simply because I learned a lot of Nach, and was inspired to dive deeper myself.

Excellent point.

For many, Tanach will do the trick.

For me it was helpful.

But it may not convince everyone.

A discussion of what's going on in the world, and why G-d is directing things as He does, would be more to the point, in my opinion.

Rav Kahane's "how to read the newspaper" was directed, at least partially, to this end.

I know, the Chofetz Chaim disapproved of even glancing through the papers, Rav Moshe Feinstein, too.

But if all the bochurim are already doing it, best give them some JEWISH instruction on how to go about it.

I think it is pretty clear. You were told not to form a nation, and to wait, but what did you do? What happened in the past when your people disobeyed God? Shit, I wonder why things are going wrong...

Tell me, is yours a case of confusion? or stupidity?

I think God doesn't like when you displace people, man.

Well then he shouldn't have added the book of Joshua in his Bible. Must be a mistake.

I was referring to your God. I am not a Christian in the sense that you understand it.

Well, subhumans have to be killed, then, don't they?

Y'up for it?

You want to, don't you?

Just don't have the cohones, right?

You could do it. Just make your way to Syria like thousands of others are doing. Get a gun, and join the party.

You don't have to be a weak-kneed poufta your whole life.

No, subhumans do not deserve to be killed.

Some folks are just masochists, I guess.

The only thing your people ever did correctly was culturally posture themselves to be superior to others with unwavering autism. I respect you for many things, but your culture and religion are garbage. It's about time the world stops reciprocating your posturing which is clearly rooted in lies and hate.

Autism.

Hmm…

Takes one to know one, I guess.

And between pills, please explain what “a people” without a culture and religion looks like.

You're obviously a very deep thinker.

Between pills? You're obviously a very autistic thinker. Nobody is talking about pills. What does a people without a culture and religion look like? I have no idea, and it is irrelevant, because my point was that yours sucks. Very, very, very simple stuff—I don't see why you view it as deep thinking.

You caught me—I am a masochist for disapproving of your exiling of a people in order to capitalize on an ancient land claim.

You have no G-d.

But if you did, you would study His word, and learn that not only displacing, but in certain instances killing is precisely what He wants.

You, therefore, have three choices.

1. Study and come to the Truth.

2. Whine about people like me because you're an ignoramus, or

3. Get off your backside, come to the Middle East, find a weapon and engage in battle against the Holy One of Israel and his Chosen People in a final battle to establish the Truth.

Man...

Your God does not exist, man.

Do you exist?

In a Xtian sense, that is.

If you fell in the bathtub, say -- would it make a splash?

DM writes: “If you fell in the bathtub, say — would it [you?] make a splash?” I’m reading your essays for the first time, linked to you from the substack of a modern ortho woman whose name I forget. It appears to me that you are fucking brilliant and an incredibly talented writer. The question you wrote that I quoted above references a hoary philosophical, quasi-scientific question along with a clever reference to an old Greek guy who jumped out of the tub and ran, supposedly naked, thru the streets, shouting “Eureka.” How can I not read for my own edification and enjoyment, everything you write? I’m pondering that “shylah” now. In the meantime, Dean M., how about your posting to your vast audience of intellectuals and ordinary Americans and perhaps baalei t’shuvah and amei ha-aretz, a blurb on behalf of my award-winning and Amazon Best Selling (e-book ranked yesterday #12 in Holoc Bios, 4 years after publication and 1 yr. after a revised edition [now with an Index!]) book, “Separated Together,” a “personal-historical” true, inspirational story about my in-laws, separated 7(!) years during the War and Shoah, along with two+ chapters on what led to the War and the beginning of the planned Shoah in Sept., 1939, not Jan. 1942.

Dear Doctor Price,

You are too kind.

More to the point, though —

I have no vast audience.

And what’s more, I have a native distrust of Ph.Ds.

Particularly those who curse.

And anyone with best-selling credentials on Amazon (or any other, official book-marketing apparatus).

That said, please feel free to post comments purporting to the value of your book on all my posts, new and old.

And to regularly encourage people regarding my alleged brilliance.

In turn, I will look the other way and do my utmost not to appear dumb.

Ph.D.’s in the Humanities were always suspect, I suspect. Now they have -alas- become largely a sign of general ignorance about History, perhaps philosophy and certainly politics and religion. My daughter got her BA from Harvard in 1999. She studied with Ruth Wisse and wrote her honors thesis on The Jewish Picarro (I think that’s the correct word). She graduated Magna cum…. Ruth (and I) thought that Sarah (my daughter) should turn her thesis into a book. Unfortunately, S. moved from Cambridge to San Fran to take a tech consulting job. Time passed and the book never got written. She later earned an MA from USC in -I think, journalism and worked for awhile at LA Times and Jewish Journal. She retired to have 4 children and then to move to Dallas to be with her parents (i.e. moi et ma femme), so we could help with car pool and she could help her parents(e.g. finding for me an oncologist and Phase 1 (!) clinical trial for CAR-T, which put me in remission from Multiple Myeloma and saved my life. She has been on the correct side of the Kultur Kampf. As you know the Humanities have plunged into the depths of a shithole. B.S. = Bullshit, M..S. More Shit, Ph.D. = “Piled Deeper and Higher.” My Ph.D. was a “Research” and “clinical practitioner” degree. While in grad school I published journal articles and, with my wife, a manual published by Wiley for college/univ. Profs on how to teach courses in Abnormal Psychology. The Psych field esp. in psychoanalysis (not my area😉) has like the Human. devolved into a true shithole filled by activist antisemites. I assume my comment is not shown on ur stack. For lots more interesting stuff about moi and my book (and my grandchildren), please send me an email address - to consultingdoc@icloud.com) and we can become internet haverim and perhaps help each other become even more famous and important than we already are. Regarding your being brilliant - I mean it and I don’t compliment lightly. Hope to connect. best wishes, kpp
