Mida k'neged mida, in real time.
Apropos of a recent post we wrote (and following a few discussions with fellow hilltop ruffians), we've come to offer you this —
The modus operandi by which Hashem runs the world is known as mida kneged mida.
It's a concept variously translated as measure for measure, Jewish karma, poetic justice — but however it's anglified, it's true meaning is perhaps best embodied by the mishna in Pirkei Avot (2:6) in which Hillel opines upon a skull he sees floating in the water.
You were drowned because you drowned others. And ultimately, those who drowned you will also drown.
In other words, what goes around comes around, and most often in the manner it first went forth!
Just Deserts
Chazal tell us that in the manner we judge orhers, so, too, will we be judged in shamayim.
.במידה שאדם מודד, בה מודדין לו
It's a related concept, also dealing with individuals, but concerning our thoughts rather than our actions. Here, too, though, it’s still a “measure for measure” principle that's applied.
But what about at the national level?
Does Hashem operate on a broader basis, with entire nations, using mida k’neged mida?
You bet.
There are examples aplenty from Chumash, Tanach and even recent history, as we'll soon see.
To wit—
The Egyptians drowning in the Reed Sea — getting done to them as they did to us.
The meraglim (Bamidbar 14:34):
After the number of the days in which ye spied out the land, even forty days, for every day a year shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know My displeasure.
The shmitta year not observed — the nation of Israel was exiled during the time of Yeremiyahu for 70 years to account for 70 sabbatical years that were not kept (Divrei Hayamim II, 36:21):
“…to fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Yeremiyahu, until the land had been paid her sabbaths; for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.”
So…
If that's the case…
If the punishment fits the crime…
Then…
If the state of Israel kidnaps yemenite babies;
If it snatches young sefaradi schoolchildren from their classrooms to be irradiated with lethal blasts of xray roentgen;
If it misleads the mentally unfit and dupes them into consenting to medical experiments that are often cruel and inhumane.
If it abducts thousands of newborns from their mothers to inject them with experimental vaccinations without their parents knowledge or consent
If it routinely jails or exiles from their homes, family and friends, political dissidents who’ve neither committed nor been charged with a crime, offering them no recourse or due process in law to adjudicate their case before a judge…
Then is it any wonder…
That Hashem sent the PLO against us? a group whose legacy was founded upon successfully highjacking airplanes back in the 1970’s.
Or Hamas, who built their infamous name via abductions, extortion and ransom?
Or Hizb’Alla, who snuck into Lebanon on the sly and, for all intents and purposes, commandeered that country from its original owners, the better to slap us around from the north?
Indeed, it appears that our enemies have been visited upon us with an impeccably precise mida k’neged mida!
The zionists pirated Eretz Yisrael from the Jews, then abducted, absconded, deceived and stole innocent souls for their own twisted, nationalist ends.
So, in turn, Hashem sent them an enemy equally skilled at stealing, abducting, kidnapping and deceiving.
What could be more poetic? Or just?
Once we put paid to these zionists and reclaim our holy patrimony, watch how quickly those thieves in and around Eretz Yisrael disappear.
